Jessica Valpied - Owner and founder of Four Paws Country Pet Hotel 12 years ago, back in 2011

"Hi my name is Jessica, I am 39 years old. I have been brought up around animals and have had pets all my life. Currently, I have 5 cats, Meow Meows, Misty, Felix, Spotty,& Reggie and 5 ponies, Tona, Lola, Derrick, Teddy and Puddles.
When I was younger I always dreamt of having my own business but would often get knocked back because of my dyslexia - this only made me more determined.  When I was 16 years old I had my first business called Sunset Pet Supplies, I would make embroidered leads and collars and sell them on my website but I always wanted something more. I was 23 years old when the opportunity came up to purchase the old Barnes Kennels in 2008, I knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I had to take and I have never looked back since.
I now have an amazing, strong team which consists of 6 ladies who are all dedicated to helping my business grow and growing within my business."

Miya - Has been with the team for seven years now and her confidence has grown massively, from a shy school leaver to a confident employee.

"Hi my name is Miya and from a very young age I grew up with animals around me, from hamsters and fish to cats and dogs. I have always had an interest in animals but was disappointed when there were no animal jobs available for school leavers. When I left school I approached four paws county pet hotel explaining how I’d like to work with animals. Although not advertising, Jess agreed to meet me and then proceeded to offer me a position. I have been at four paws for seven years now and I’m really enjoying it. Before working at four paws I did dog walking for a few years, my first ever dog walk was at the age of 4.
At home I have 3 dogs, a leopard gecko, a bearded dragon, tropical fish, a hamster and a snake. My hobbies are photography, music and drawing. You will most likely find me taking photos of my pets when I’m not at work."

Candice - Is always willing to help no matter what the job and is happy to go out of her way to see the business succeed.

"Hi my name is Candice, I am lucky enough to have worked at Four Paws Country Pet Hotel on and off for 12 years and have worked for Jess since I was 14 years old. Having been employed with Four Paws for so many years, I've watched the business flourish - we have a tight team, that works so well together and we have a great boss!

The best part of the job for me is seeing new dogs board with us for the first time, and being able to watch them grow up from a small puppy to an old grey dog as they continue to board with us throughout the years."

Lelde -  Shows great work ethic, team work and is always willing to go the extra mile.

"Hi, my name is Lelde,I was born and grew up in Latvia, constantly surrounded by animals.

My first encounter working with animals was when I was a teenager volunteering in animal shelter program that was dedicated to socialize animals and take dogs for walks.

I moved to Guernsey in 2017 and, after some time in hospitality sector, I decided I wanted a change which led me to finding an opportunity to start at Four Paws. This has been, without a doubt,  an exciting opportunity for me. The role is very varied and rewarding and keeps me on my toes! I have learned and am still learning so much. It makes me proud to be part of such a dedicated and knowledgeable team.

In my spare time, I like to keep it active, making the most of Guernsey's beautiful beaches and exploring cliff paths.

I adore all creatures big and small and hope to get a pet of my own in not-too distant future."

Neve - Is always keen to help and likes to keep busy!

"Hello, my name is Neve I am 18. From a young age I grew up with animals around me, from rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises, dogs and cats.

I have always wanted to work with animals but was disappointed when it was nearly time to leave school and wasn’t able to go to any type of work with animals due to covid, then I had no clue what I was going to do until I approached four paws and applied for a job here and now when I look back it was the best decision and best work colleagues to be around not only I’ve made work mates I’ve also made loads of cute cuddly furry friends. I was very worried to leave school because of my GCSE results throughout high school my due to me being dyslexic. As soon as I left school I approached four paws county pet hotel explaining how I’d like to work with animals. Although not advertising, Jess and candice, agreed to meet me and I’m really enjoying it. Before working for four paws.

When I’m not working and I find my dogs hair really long I get out the clippers and groom her, you’ll also see me in a field at sunset taking lots and lots of photos of my dog!"

Jade - The newest member of the the Four Paws Team

"Hello my name is Jade, I joined FourPaws in November 2023 as an Office Administrator, so you’ll mostly see me in the office/reception area.

I was previously a care worker in the community and a dementia home, so taking this new role has been an exciting new opportunity and I really enjoy being part of such an amazing team! I also love seeing the pets arriving for their holiday and enjoying a cheeky cuddle when I sneak off for a break!

At home, I’m a mother of three boys, a dog named Marius, and our cat named George - I’m still getting used to Marius “interrogating” me when I arrive home due to all the different dog smells.

In my spare time I like going out for walks, meeting with family/friends for coffee (coffee addict so any excuse), and drawing (mainly portraits)."
