Job Description

​

Here at Four Paws, we run lots of different services, such as Dog Boarding, Cat Boarding, Small Animal Boarding, Doggy Daycare, Horse Rug Washing & Grooming and it would be your duty to oversee the Grooming side of the business.

​

A Dog Groomers role is varied. The needs of the animals’ welfare and happiness must be met and you must maintain the cleanliness of the grooming space and equipment at all times.

​

Safety and confidentiality is paramount to the business, and everyone has to ensure all policies and procedures are met for the safety of the staff, customers and all the animals.

​

If you are physically fit, confident in handling animals, and can work well in a team and on your own, this job could be right for you.



Your duties as a dog groomer include but are not limited to:

​

  • Washing, drying, cleaning ears, clipping nails, clipping, scissoring etc

  • Cleaning and sanitation - Disinfecting of all equipment & stations to a very high standard

  • Animal handling – confidence while physically handling animals is critical

  • Supervising grooms and being able to read dogs body language

  • Monitor animal behaviour for any changes

  • Updating our social media platforms

  • Running the reception: i.e. greeting customers, taking bookings, payments, invoicing, answering the phone and data entry into the Petlinx system. 

  • General welfare of  all animals

 

Being a groomer is a physically demanding job, as well as working with animals, it requires deep cleaning! You must be able to bend and stretch constantly throughout the day. This job is a lot more than just washing dogs! Working with animals can be challenging, stressful at times and unpredictable but it is a very rewarding job.


 

What we require from you:
 

  • Honest, reliable, pay attention to detail, and to be patient.

  • Availability throughout the school holidays (all-time off must be taken outside of these busy times)

  • Be able to work well under pressure, quickly and efficiently

  • Work as a team, and work on your own

  • Have great time management and know-how to prioritise your workload

  • Be physically fit 

  • Have a passion for all animals

  • Have excellent communication and people skills

  • Experience and confidence with dogs 

  • A can-do, self-motivated attitude

  • Full Driving license or a way to get to St Saviours. As some times days can start early / overrun in busy periods.

  • Previous dog grooming experience 

  • Be over 17 (due to working on your own sometimes)

  • Be a team player

     

The hours are varied Monday - Friday

We are open to be flexibe fora part time or a full time position.

Full time: Around 40 hours a week, can be more in peak seasons
The hours can vary between: 7:30am - 4pm - 8:00am - 4pm 

​

Very Excellent salary based on experience with holiday pay.


The start date to be confirmed with the candidate, but to start as soon as possible.
